Light of Love Photography l San Diego Lifestyle Photography by Kris Skurja Gabele » Light of Love Photography

I know there’s a tendency to want the “perfect” photo. You know the one. Mom looks and feels absolutely fabulous. Husband and kids are doing their “natural” smiles that mom loves so much. There’s connection. And love. Check!

In my experience as a photographer, I usually have about 5 minutes of the kids attention when they find me somewhat interesting and want to smile at the camera. Then, let’s face it, they are over it. So are the husbands! (Mine included.) They want to let loose, to have some fun and play. Ahhh, when I family can do this.. when they can be wild and free (and real!) together during a photoshoot – that’s the real deal.

Meet the Ulichny Family. They did just that! I adored my time with them while they were vacationing in San Diego. We captured some formal shots upfront, then the beach and freedom was calling. Those are the moments the family will remember when they look back on their images for years to come. And those are the moments when I really enjoy myself as a photographer. The real life stuff. Thanks guys, so fun to be with you!

Ok, so I have to say, I was pretty giddy when I had the chance to photograph the Kyles. I totally respect and adore this couple. They are the coolest! Doug is the Pastor at a church that I grew up going to – it’s called Green Valley Church in San Diego. He also officiated our wedding, which made it all the more special. Cindy is a joyful light in this world. She also happens to be a very talented photographer. Check her work out here, Together they have raised three kids, and now, have recently welcomed a fur baby to the family – “Blazer”.

When we talked about options for their photoshoot, Torrey Pines Beach & Lagoon came to mind. They love it here. Every time the train passes by, they kiss. I mean, how sweet right? Here are a handful of images from our photography session together.

This is what 29 years married looks like. As I said before, sign me up! 4 years and counting..

I just adore this family! Lindsey and I met a few years ago during a playdate for our (now older) boys, who have since developed such a sweet friendship – as did the mommies. (That would be us!). The Ashcrafts welcomed their littlest one into the world one year ago, and I was so fortunate to capture their early family moments in the comfort of their home during a newborn session. And blink, here they are with a one year old! It’s crazy how fast time goes by when you have children, isn’t it? They live right around the corner from us and frequent the beach, so we didn’t have to travel far for their photoshoot. The bluffs in Torrey Pines are the ideal spot for a rustic/beachy vibe, which I really dig! Here are a handful of images from this San Diego Family Photography session. Aren’t these brothers adorable? And, if you didn’t notice, there was a special guest appearance by their grandparents (Lindsey’s parents) at the end of the photoshoot. Those cuddles are always the best!

It was such a joy to capture the wedding of these two lovebirds! Their story began four years ago. Ryan is a Fire Fighter/Paramedic for San Marcos Fire and Tera is an ER nurse at Tri City Medical Center. According to Ryan, he had been “eye-balling her for years” before he finally worked up enough courage to ask for her number. Sparks flew and they quickly started to fall in love.

Tera loves that he is dependable, hard working honest, smart, sexy, and has such a big heart. Her best friend! And Ryan loves that he is found his soul mate in a woman who is so thoughtful, so determined, and loves him to pieces. One lucky man!

Their beautiful summer wedding was held at the Wedding Bowl in La Jolla, with picture-perfect ocean views. And the reception was at The Bristol Hotel. I especially loved when the rooftop opened up during their first dance, to the surprise and delight of all their guests. It was such an honor to be a part of the celebration of their love for one another. I am so excited for these two as they enter into a lifelong marriage together. Congrats Ryan + Tera!

Here is a list of some of the incredible vendors who made this wedding special for them.

Ceremony: San Diego Seaside Weddings
Reception: The Bristol Hotel
Hair & Make-up: Sarah Jones/Swords
Cake: Sweet Cheeks Bakery
Flowers: Hidalgo Flowers
DJ: DJ Mikey Beats

I am so excited to share images from one of my favorite photoshoots as of late. Ah, this little miss! LuLu turned 6, and we were all about celebrating HER! – Her zest for life. Her curiosity and sense of adventure. Her sweet, perfect little soul. I mean, look at those purple tips that match the purple feathers in her hair. Such a vibrant spirit! She, along with her parents, took me to one of her very favorite spots in San Diego – the San Elijo Caves and Lagoon.  What a cool place!  I had never been before and plan on making this one of my new go-to photo locations. Thanks girl! I did my best to keep up with LuLu, ha! It was such a blast. Here are some of the images from this San Diego Family Photoshoot – I could have shared the whole gallery of 100+ shots. So hard to narrow down! I hope you enjoy. And LuLu, keep on sparkling!!
