I know there’s a tendency to want the “perfect” photo. You know the one. Mom looks and feels absolutely fabulous. Husband and kids are doing their “natural” smiles that mom loves so much. There’s connection. And love. Check!
In my experience as a photographer, I usually have about 5 minutes of the kids attention when they find me somewhat interesting and want to smile at the camera. Then, let’s face it, they are over it. So are the husbands! (Mine included.) They want to let loose, to have some fun and play. Ahhh, when I family can do this.. when they can be wild and free (and real!) together during a photoshoot – that’s the real deal.
Meet the Ulichny Family. They did just that! I adored my time with them while they were vacationing in San Diego. We captured some formal shots upfront, then the beach and freedom was calling. Those are the moments the family will remember when they look back on their images for years to come. And those are the moments when I really enjoy myself as a photographer. The real life stuff.
